I have recently purchased a craftman 140 welder (20569) but it does not come with a regulator. I am new to welding so I have no idea what I need. I looked at three different ones at Northern Tool today but don’t know the difference…One was an oxygen regulator one was an acetylene regulator, and the other just said welding regulator. Which one do I need and what is a good brand to get?

During pile casting lenght of the pile was short of design lenght and it is proposed to increase length by welding. Is this allowed as per BS Standard. If yes what is the correct welding procedure to be followed.

I just started welding a few years ago. I have never been to college and I am going to enroll shortly but I am interested to know what kind of degree can I get that will involving welding? I love welding and want to continue my career in it.

30 hours of welding, for one beam to beam connection.

I mean except for being underwater ,are the other kinds of welding different in the amounts of physical exertion . Also do you think someone who is not very strong- physical person can do some of this work ?

I want to research on what welding operations are needed when trying to weld large sections of steel together to form a hull of the ship.
what are the drawbacks and benefits of welding operations today for this kind of process?
what would be the best one for the job?

For MIG and Flux core welding, do you need a differently rated shade. We have a # 10, and don’t know how to tell when we could need a darker shade like a 12 for example. Somewhere we read about looking at a bare light bulb to see if you can see the outline of it as an indicator of needing a darker shade. We are just learning about welding and would like to know when an auto darkening system is better and how to pick a good one.
