this is a small p 51 metal model. dont know what metal. gear is solid metal and1 and 1.5 centimeters long by 1 centimeter thick. ends with small rubber wheels. i have no industrial tools only tool box type stuff. please help. additional details upon request

  1. These small die cast toys were almost always a very porous light metal. A Dremel cut-off wheel would be really slick here. But, in light of your situation, a metal file would not be difficult at all to use on removing this gear.

  3. If it’s a very old model, I wouldn’t if you’re interested in collector value. Aside from that, a file would work. Try and find a fine one to smooth it out and finish it off. I have to back up Derial on the Dremel suggestion. A Dremel kit and a good set of heads are useful for a lot of jobs. If you’re carefull, you can use it to really smooth out the surface.
