Are generators allowed at national parks in the United States?
Does anyone know if generators are allowed at campsites in national parks in the United States? I searched the National Park Service website, but couldn’t find any overall policy statements regarding generators–just a couple of specific cases and exceptions. Thanks!

Generators are allowed in RV camp sites but may not be allowed in Tent only sites or only allowed in certain Tent sites that are close to the RV section. Some of the National Parks have stipulations as to what season they will allow generators and others have rules about what hours they can be run. I think that it might be too general a question to get an answer from the National Park Service, you might want to contact the individual park you have in mind as I believe that each will have its own rules regarding generators especially as each State has different “Quiet Time” laws. I have included a link below to all the National Park Campgrounds so that you can gather the information you need. I hope my answer helps you.
The rules are set by the individual park superintendents, and can vary from one campground to the next. Here in Death Valley, there are generator hours in most of the campgrounds. You need to go to the individual park website (they all can be found at nps.gov — unless you are looking at USFS or BLM recreation areas) and find out the rules at the particular park and its campgrounds.
